Tools of the trade

Always fun to collaborate on the annual corporate shoot at Raytheon/BBN technologies. A little powder goes a long way! Most guys don't love the idea of makeup but it really helps to keep distracting shine away.

Blushing bride

I'm totally geeking out over this Temptu airbrush blush shade. If you're looking for that soft, glowing natural flushed cheek-this is it!

Ask for it during your trial and see for yourself! I'll be sure to post some pics of clients.

Chantecaille spring 2014 palette

Love these subtle hues on Chantecaille's new spring "Save the Bees" palette. Perfect for a soft and pretty look (think blushing bride!!!).

5% of proceeds from the Save the Bees Palette will be donated to The Xerces Society to help protect bees and our environment!

Chantecaille launches a new limited edition palette with a philanthropic cause every season.

Looking "natural" is actually a whole lot of tricks of the trade

I often get the request from clients to make them look "natural". well, natural for HD images is very different from natural in real life. A good makeup artist has to find the perfect balance. Pretty for pics AND up close! (also, real life doesn't come with facetune..)

Below is an example of a more nude/natural look that will photograph very "fresh" and "clean". The client is wearing pretty much everything, including false lashes. Let's not confuse natural with just wearing lip balm;)

There is a whole lot of blending and softening  when it comes to creating that "barely there" look. Next time, when you're looking at that skin care add, look a little closer:)
